HAPPY FATHERS DAY!

Happy fathers day! Here are a few ideas to decorate for fathers day. I used just about all fish this year
They are so easy to find.
For my kitchen wall I used antique plates with a nautical design. Drew some fish with chaulk. That was a lot of fun especially since my husband said he's never seen fish like that. Oh well I tried. On my hutch I put a glass fish that a friend of ours just knew I had to have. I cut some grasses from the yard and put them in a vase. I then used our gun bottles for something a little extra. Nothing says fathers day like a shotgun full of tequila! LOL. For my sconces I just tied a striped piece of ribbon and added an old plastic light cover. Wired on with a twist tie.
In the livingroom I used more fish on my shelves. The white fish were bought at a craft store. They are supposed to be painted but I really like them the way they are.I changed out some of the pictures with fish art. I added a plate and some more grass from the yard. In my candle holders I used river rock and put tea lights in the middle.
For the bathroom I used more.fish an added some seashells.
I hope you enjoy these ideas can use some of them yourself. Don't know if.anyone is crazy enough to decorate for father's day but if you are then I hope you can use these.

Happy Mother's Day! May 13th

Happy mother's day! I realize it may be strange to decorate for mothers day but I really can't help myself! It is another holiday after all! Do any of you decorate for mother's day too? I would love to see an hear your ideas!
For the kitchen I replaced my plates with the plates my kids have made for me thru the years! You can buy the blank plates at Michael's craft store. The kids love making them. ( Even teenagers) I drew hearts an flowers on my wall. I found some really cool fake orchids at Walgreen's. They light up! They are battery powered and are on a timer so them come on every night at the same time. I love them. I think I need to buy more. For my candle holders I used bright pink and purple ribbons with bright pink roses. I added some butterflies for a little fun. For my table I used the same roses and in the candle holders I filled them with pearls. Yes another use for grandmas costume jewelry! I knew I could find many uses for it.
In the livingroom I brought out all of my framed pictures of my girls. I added some floral black and white plates. More pearls in my candle holders and a few fake hydrangeas on the shelves complete the livingroom.
In the bathroom I used more bright ribbons and purple flowers with more butterflies for curtains. I added more costume jewelry and a Avon plate.
What do you think. Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas for mother's day decorations? Comments are very appreciated. Hope everyone has a wonderful mothers day!

HAPPY EASTER!

Happy Easter! I am thinking about renaming my blog! "Writing on the walls". It seems like every blog I start of talking about my chaulk board wall. What do you think? Is that a better name? Is it more interesting?
Any who. I drew on my wall for Easter an think it turned out really fun. Wish I could find brightered colored chaulk but will make do. I changed my plates. Went out and picked a few daffodils and my buffet is good enough! For my table I found the coolest thing. Ceramic eggs that you break and flowers grow. I am starting to see small sprouts after about a week. I found them at Lowes. I put them on candle holders, put some Easter grass around them added a few chocolate bunny's. I also took half of plastic eggs filled them with candy an placed them in candle holders. I love it! What do you think?
For the livingroom I added lots of Easter grass and glass eggs on my shelves. No I didn't get new frames so I didn't change the art work. I think Easter grass is my favorite Easter decoration. You can find it every where and it is so cheap. For next year I found clear irridecent, so good bye pink and blue. Hello pretty clear. What is your favorite decoration?
For the bathroom I keep it simple. I add a pretty bunny, add some grass and a few Easter eggs and call it good. I did find some really cute Easter rubber duckies. What better place to use them than the bathroom?
Hope this was full of some good ideas. Please leave comments good or bad.
Happy Easter to everyone! Have a gray holiday!

Happy St Patricks Day!

Happy St Patty's Day!
Hope this gives you few decorating ideas. As usual I changed plates and drew all over my chalk board wall. Its pretty much expected now! I used my old table cloth and just folded it for a runner. I added a few fresh carnations and daffodils from my yard on the table. I couldn't help to buy green fruit for the fruit bowl. Changed my ribbons on the candle holders and called it complete. Decorating the kitchen took me all of 10 min. It took longer to get the items out of the boxes.
As you can see I finally finished painting the living room. I am so excited to have things on the walls again. I really didn't do much in here. I added a few leprechauns and put some green stones in my candle holders. Threw a few green pillows on the couch and called it good. I really need to frames for my post cards. They are barely held to together! When I find some new ones I love I will go back to changing out all of my art work.
I would really love comments ideas or even dislikes.
I hope everyone has a safe and wonderful happy St Patrick's day.

Happy Valentines Day!

Happy Valentine's day! Here is pictures from my kitchen. I really am loving my chalk board wall! It makes decorating for all the holidays so easy! The best part is when I draw on it and get bored in a week or change my mind it can be changed in seconds.
My favorite Valentine's decorations are the heart shaped chocolate boxes. When I buy them for the kids I always pick the boxes I love and then save them for next year! You can also remove the front (the decorated part) off of the box an frame them or just store them easier!
Sorry there aren't pictures of the rest of house! My house is in a up roar because we are painting the livingroom. There will be for St Patrick day! I wont promise Maudi Gras though!
Hope everyone has a wonderful Valentine's day!
